1Dear Dr. Samora:
In your website a mention of the “Railroad Bracero Program of World War II” was made.
If you wish to interview a bracero for a future project, allow me to offer you the history of my father. He is currently 87-years old and has always enjoyed telling others of his adventures while a contract laborer for the U.S. Southern Pacific Railroad in California during the war years.
In the event you wish to contact me, you may do so at the following: silveria.ballaron@sbcglobal.net or (224) 330-7931
Sinceramente,
Silveria Arrizon-Ballaron

3I know of some people in the San Luis Valley area whose surname is ‘Samora’ and they claim to be related to Julian Samora. All I know is that they live in Monte Vista, Colorado and their mother’s name was known as Star Samora and her sister’s name is Mabel Chacon. I know of only one of Star’s children with the name Samora….Anna Lee Samora Quintana.
Are these people related to the Julian Samora family?

5I don’t know if these people are relatives of Julian Samora or not. If you can send me contact information I would be very happy to ask them. A phone number or email would be most welcome. I know that Julian had a half-brother and a half-sister with the last name of Harris. I also know that Julian had two aunts and one uncle. The aunts used their married names and I am in touch with those relatives. The uncle had no children. It is possible that the people you mention are related more distantly through Julian’s grandfather.
Thank you,
Carmen Samora
